Introduction


Eucommia bark scientifically known as Eucommia ulmoides Oliv., belongs to the Eucommiaceae family. It is a perennial woody tree, mainly distributed in cultivated in some regions of Vietnam, such as Lào Cai, Hà Giang, and Lâm Đồng. The bark of the Eucommia tree is the primary medicinal part, typically harvested from trees over 10 years old, peeled, dried, or processed into powder, paste, or extract. In traditional medicine, Eucommia bark has a sweet, slightly spicy taste, warm nature, and enters the liver and kidney meridians, with functions to tonify the liver and kidneys, strengthen tendons and bones, stabilize pregnancy, and invigorate blood. Eucommia bark is considered a key herb in therapies supporting joint health, reproductive health, and blood circulation.
