Introduction
Chinese Angelica, or “Đương quy” in Vietnamese, scientifically known as Angelica sinensis, is a valuable medicinal herb belonging to the Apiaceae family. Primarily cultivated in Vietnam (highland regions such as Lào Cai, Lâm Đồng) and other East Asian countries, the dried root of Chinese Angelica is the main part used in traditional medicine. With a sweet, spicy taste, warm nature, and entering the liver, heart, and spleen meridians, Đương quy is renowned for its functions to tonify blood, invigorate blood, regulate menstruation, and relieve pain, commonly used to treat anemia, menstrual disorders, abdominal pain, and physical weakness.
