Grown in East Asian regions such as China, Vietnam, and Korea, the bark of Phellodendron is a valuable medicinal herb in traditional medicine. With a bitter taste, cold nature, and entering the kidney, bladder, and large intestine meridians, Phellodendron bark is known for its functions to clear heat, dry dampness, detoxify, and combat bacteria, commonly used to treat inflammation, diarrhea, infections, and heat-related conditions in the body.
