Radix Rehmanniae Glutinosae
(Sheng Di Huang-Rehmannia Root)

Introduction

Radix Rehmanniae Glutinosae, a perennial herbaceous plant of the Scrophulariaceae family, is widely cultivated in Vietnam, particularly in the northern provinces (Lang Son, Bac Giang), Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An. The root tuber, harvested after 6–8 months, is a key medicinal material in Vietnamese traditional medicine due to its cold nature, bittersweet taste, and properties that clear heat, nourish blood, and tonify yin.

Additional Information: In Vietnam, Rehmannia glutinosa is typically grown in alluvial soil under cool climates and processed manually (sun-dried or steamed) to preserve its pharmacological properties. This medicinal herb is also exported to China and Japan, contributing to agricultural economics.
