Introduction
Zedoary Root (Rhizoma Curcumae), scientifically named Curcuma zedoaria, belongs to the Zingiberaceae family and is a valued medicinal herb in Vietnamese traditional medicine. The rhizome has a bitter and pungent taste, a warm nature, and enters the Liver and Spleen meridians, renowned for its effects in promoting qi circulation, breaking blood stasis, resolving accumulations, and alleviating pain.
Commonly found in tropical regions such as Quảng Nam and Kon Tum, Zedoary is used to support the treatment of abdominal pain due to qi stagnation and blood stasis, irregular menstruation, abdominal masses, and poor appetite. In modern medicine, Zedoary contains essential oils and curcuminoids, which exhibit anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and digestive-supporting properties.
